Statistics and studies say less number of women leaders are seen at the higher levels. Multiple roles as a wife, a Mommy, etc while juggling with the full-time career or sometimes the long career breaks, hinder their growth. I do not mean having a family is an obstacle, but many women are less likely to receive support from the family due to the traditional pattern of thinking where the role of a woman is assumed to be limited to homemaking, (specifically Asians ). Even at the workplace, they may get less support, her absence from work may impact. In reality, it wouldn't have damaged anything, they might have become more mature, patient and the best crisis manager. Women are always good at multi-tasking and they can do resource optimization and lead the people. They are capable, Yes! we are all capable.
