Equality in Medicine

This group is intended to promote the awareness that gender inequality in medicine still exists. It's not as overt as in the past, but research shows that this undercurrent of gender inequality affects salary, benefits, career advancement, and satisfaction for women in medicine. It is important to understand that these very inequalities that exist among women and men physicians in medicine inherently affect everyone in the health care system. As such, it leaves us all vulnerable and in need of a solution. A physicians’ primary responsibility is to provide care to each and every one of their patients. Yet, in order for the physician to provide fair care to their patients, the institution itself must be fair as well. Ultimately, this circle is to show that sexism is not strictly isolated and can be seen in areas like medicine too. With this online circle, I hope that we can all learn and gain insight regarding this matter from one another. My goal is to connect with women and men all across the globe to share our different perspectives regarding this matter. I encourage you to invite family, friends and colleagues to connect with this in this circle.
