This group is for women in San Gabriel Valley who would like to meet together with a small group because they need accountability partners, support, and a confidential space in order to achieve their goals or expand on their successes. [ Mission Statement ] This will be a problem solving and group resource for small and large steps that we can individually take to develop our careers, create a more just and productive workplace, and support a full life for ourselves and our families. We will be holding our meetings in the San Gabriel Valley (Pasadena, Arcadia, Altadena, Monrovia, Alhambra, etc.). [ Group Objectives ] - Provide a respectful and collaborative affinity space to discuss labor/employee/work issues - Share and develop ideas and tools for improving our work and championing our labor - Of their own volition, each member uses the ideas and tools shared in the group to develop their own skills and abilities - Empower ourselves to claim ownership over their our and learn the tools to drive our work towards a positive direction [ Formats ] Roundtable discussion: group evaluates and debates specific topic Groupthink: members bring up a personal case for the whole group to evaluate and solve Practical Workshop: roleplays, simulations Assessments: self evaluation Relational Presence Circle: members practice speaking and being a receptive audience Panels Presentations [ Possible Topics ] Work skills (e.g. communication, practical knowledge) Bias (e.g. gender spectrum, race, religion, ethnicity, immigrant, etc.) Navigating your organization Salary negotiation Managing your manager Documentation Labor rights and regulations Workplace union Work safety (example: training, harassment, security) Supporting ourselves and families (budgeting, finding resources)
