What it is, What it’s Not: The Women's Entrepeneur Group is a dedicated to women who own and operate their own business. Many of the members, but not all, were the founders as well. The group is committed to providing support and resources to it’s like minded members. We are all interested in discussing topics related to running and growing the businesses of the members, as well as, helping members with challenges that they may encounter related to the businesses. It is not intended to be a ‘networking’ group or a group centered around making connections for future sale of products or services. The group welcomes, encourages and strengths lie in providing a safe environment for disclosing weaknesses, vulnerabilities and challenges that the members encounter and would like help over coming. Structure Size of Group – WEG usually has between 11 – 13 active participants, Each participant commits to attending 80% or more of the meetings Members Demographic – women business owners of businesses that the owners are interested in growing or sustaining the current level of growth Confidentiality – the group is intended to be a safe environment for honest discussions regarding the businesses and owners, members confidentiality and respect for the sensitivity of the discussions is a core requirement for all members Meetings are monthly on the 2nd Friday of the month, from September to June/July Meetings start @ 9:30 am, 9:30 am – 10:00 am – social/connection/catch up time, 10:00 am – 11:00 am – meeting topic, 11:00 am – 11:30 am – business challenge, check in/updates and group business Member participation – each member is required to facilitate/plan at least one meeting during the year and contribute during the meetings to the discussion and agreed upon guidelines and structure Meeting's may be cancelled if there are not 5 attendees The group was created in 2006/2007 by Lisa Flaxman and Aviva Goldfarb. Lisa was the owner of MusiKids and she, very unfortunately, lost her battle with Breast Cancer in January 2009. We meet at 10423 Armory Avenue, Kensington, Maryland 20895 Current members own businesses in the following industries: eCommerce Marketing Consulting Services Personal and Business Documentarians Professional Services (Coaching, Outsourced CFO, Admissions, Money Management) Photography We are an informal group. We do not actively seeking to grow larger than 15. Our goal is to provide support to each of the participants at a deep level (which is why the group stays relatively small).
