The “Awesome Professional Ladies” are a group of staff at the Johns Hopkins University - Applied Physics Laboratory with 0-4 years of work experience (typically an A1 staff classification). The group meets once a month, and currently targets issues commonly faced by staff coming straight from college (such as communicating with confidence). The goals of the circle are to gain the confidence to speak up when they feel uncomfortable, to become more polished at professional presentations/public speaking, and to develop peer networks within APL (especially for staff who are not originally local to MD). The group consists of both professional development meetings (like communicating with confidence) and social events (like pottery paint night). For more information, please contact Emily Brown or Michaela Kerem.
Networks connect groups of Circles and individuals that share a common location, company, affinity, industry, or interest area.
We’re always looking for new members. Join today to be a part of Lean In’s global community.
Circles are small groups of women who come together—online or offline—for real talk and peer support.
We all need a safe space for real talk, inspiration, and support. Right now, we need community more than ever.
